Who I Am
Hello, I’m Lori Peters. I’m a licensed counselor in the State of Pennsylvania and a certified grief and trauma specialist. I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since 2006, I have worked with numerous individuals and families in my professional and volunteer work who have suffered loss and trauma. I am also a griever of many losses. I have a heart and passion for helping those in the grieving process because of what I’ve experienced and witnessed. Losing someone or something is one of the most difficult events of life. I would like to help you navigate life after loss and would feel honored to do so.
Life may be hard now, but you will smile and laugh again.
It has taken me a long time to enjoy life again after experiencing my losses, including six of them within 18 months. I did not want to live let alone laugh. It wasn’t until I began work with my own therapist, found a support group and started writing that I was able to find me again. I’m Lori 2.0 now - stronger and more resilient.
My Rates
Individual Therapy Session
Sessions can be scheduled on a weekly or biweekly basis. Session duration is typically 60 minutes but if time permits, I can extend a session as needed.
60 - 70 mins | $90 self-pay rate
Intake/Initial Therapy Session
For this session, I will be asking you questions about your personal and mental health history, background and goals for therapy. I will also be assessing whether you and I are good fits for each other. Session duration is typically 60-70 minutes.
60 - 80 mins | $90 self-pay rate
I currently accept self-pay clients and those who certain insurances. For self-pay clients needing a reduced rate, requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to know if I take your insurance, please call 717-931-1900 or email lori@starfishcounseling.biz.
